Her intention was to go to the Art College but she did not work hard enough for it so she did a few TV commercials instead, until an agent from London saw her work and suggested to her to try acting. The first feature film she ever did was the Bond movie "View to a Kill, A (1985)" in which she had a small but pivotal cameo as Jenny Flex. Doody's biggest involvement, though, was playing the part of Dr. Elsa Schneider in the third installment of the Indiana Jones franchise. After that, she did a few more movies and then retired momentarily to marry the Irish media tycoon Gavin O'Reilly. Together, they had two daughters.
After a break of almost nine years, Alison Doody came back to the silver screen again in 2003 when she was asked to cameo in Michael Caine 's comedy "The Actors (2003)". There she regained a passion for the movie industry and realized how much she missed acting. She has now committed herself to several new projects, including a remake of H. Rider Haggard's novel "King Solomon's Mines" (2004) (mini)", which she shot with Patrick Swayze in South Africa in the summer of 2003. In recent interviews, she said she was absolutely thrilled to be back in front of the cameras again.
