They have sent Todd Anderson painfully shy to the school where his popular older brother was valedictorian. His partner of room, Neil, although extremely brilliant and popular, it is very much under the thumb of his authoritarian father. The two, together with his other friends, find the Teacher Keating, his new English teacher, who says to them of the Dead Society of Poets, and up it cheers them to go against the status quo. Each one, of his own way, does this, and he is changed for the life.
