Dalton is an experienced "cooler" - a Schankstube-Rausschmeißer which can break fights without getting killed in the process. Dalton and the doctor soon falls in love with each other, and this annoys Brad Wesley, a crime boss with whom the doctor was involved once with - and can be still involved.
