On the 16th of November, 1959 Truman Capote about the murder of Kansas reads family. There are no suspects. With the Harper lee he visits the town: He wants to write about her answer. First he must arrange local, then to speak after arrests, he must win access to the prisoners. One speaks constantly; the other, Perry Smith, says a little. Capote is irreconcilable, the history wishing, is thinking that this book will found a new form of the reporting: He must work out what wants Perry. Their respect becomes a little bit more than author and character: Perry killed calmly, the state will execute him calmly; does Capote get his history by the cold calculation, or is there a price of him to pay?.
Am 16. November 1959 liest Truman Capote über den Mord an einer Kansas Familie. Es gibt keine Verdächtigen. Mit der Harper Lee besucht er die Stadt: Er will über ihre Antwort schreiben. Zuerst muss er Ortsansässige veranlassen, dann nach Verhaftungen zu sprechen, er muss Zugang zu den Gefangenen gewinnen. Man spricht ständig; der andere, Perry Smith, sagt wenig. Capote ist unversöhnlich, die Geschichte wollend, glaubend, dass dieses Buch eine neue Form der Berichterstattung gründen wird: Er muss ausrechnen, was Perry will. Ihre Beziehung wird etwas mehr als Schriftsteller und Charakter: Perry tötete kaltblütig, der Staat wird ihn kaltblütig hinrichten; bekommt Capote seine Geschichte durch die kalte Berechnung, oder ist dort ein Preis für ihn, um zu zahlen?.
