The magnolia is the study of nine lives in day in the Valley of San Fernando, California. These nine lives all connect and turn around the quiz show "what do the Rascals Know?" (WDKK), where a team of three rascals' game against the adults and always show takes place, there is a new team of adults and the rascals stay; if they earned the previous game. Count Partridge (late Jason Robards) produced "WDKK" when it was connected first at the end of the sixties. He dies from the brain and from the cancer of lung and is kept by Phil Parma (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a male nurse. Linda, the woman of trophy of Count (Julianne Moore) begins falling in love with the Count for real, in spite of her cheating. The count, dying fast on his bed, asks Phil to find his Separated, frank son T. J. Mackey (Tom Cruise), who grew by detesting the Count and runs a seminar now for the simple men, who teaches them how to entice a woman and to leave her. The crowd of "WDKK", Jimmy Gator (Philip Baker Hall), also dies, but not as fast as the Count. He has a very rocky report with his daughter Claudia (Waters of Melora), who sniffs the crack 24/7 and accuses his father of importuning him sexually. Policeman Jim (John C. Reilly) goes home of Claudia having been called of a trouble. He falls in love her right away. Stanley Specter (Jeremy Blackman) is a rival on "WDKK", which is a genius and used by his father to make some money. If Stanley and his team continue winning, they will establish a record on show and accept tons of money. The record which Stanley tries to beat is the record 1968 established by Donnie Smith (Guillaume H. Macy), who had exactly e the same childhood when he was on show and grew now to be a pitiable loser. He was recently returned from his job and tries to find his way in happiness.
