Plot Summary: Although Miss Marple wants to sun himself only quietly in a West-Indian resort, it is tormented with dull recollections by a much too talkative ex-soldier and policemen, major Palgrave. Although he claims to own a picture of a murderer, Miss Marple is interested more in her omnipresent knitting than his long-winded stories. After the hard drinking major dies at this night of an obvious heart attack, the maidservant says her that the blood pressure drug found in his room belongs to another guest. If she finds out later that the incriminating picture is missed and the maidservant is found to death stung, forecasts Miss Marple properly that more murders will follow. Obwohl sich Fräulein Marple nur ruhig an einem westindischen Ferienort sonnen will, wird sie mit langweiligen Erinnerungen von einem allzu gesprächigen Ex-Soldaten und Polizisten, Major Palgrave geplagt. Obwohl er behauptet, ein Bild eines Mörders zu besitzen, interessiert sich Fräulein Marple mehr für ihre allgegenwärtige Strickarbeit als seine langatmigen Geschichten. Nachdem der hart trinkende Major in dieser Nacht an einem offenbaren Herzanfall stirbt, sagt das Dienstmädchen ihr, dass das in seinem Zimmer gefundene Blutdruck-Medikament einem anderen Gast gehört. Wenn sie später erfährt, dass das belastende Bild vermisst wird und das Dienstmädchen zu Tode gestochen gefunden wird, sagt Fräulein Marple richtig voraus, dass mehr Morde folgen werden.
