Plot Summary: The ex-inspector Dave Robicheaux made a new life for him and his wife Annie running a shop of decoy in the periphery of New Orleans. When they save a small girl, an only survivor of a plane crash, their lives become forever changed. They take the child orphan in their home and get ready to bring him up. However, a visit of AGENT DEA DAUTRIEVE gets outside the instincts of police in Robicheaux and he begins asking besides passengers. It brings problem to Robicheaux and it turns to manage sleeping drugs to lord Bubba Rocque, childhood friend. But friendship becomes separated when an attack on Robicheaux the leaves of family a victim. Annie.
L'ex-inspecteur Dave Robicheaux a fait une nouvelle vie pour lui et sa femme Annie dirigeant un magasin d'appât dans la périphérie de Nouvelle-Orléans. Quand ils sauvent une petite fille, le seul survivant d'un accident d'avion, leurs vies deviennent pour toujours changées. Ils prennent l'enfant orphelin dans leur maison et se préparent à l'élever. Cependant, une visite de l'agent DEA Dautrieve fait sortir les instincts de police dans Robicheaux et il commence à demander du reste des passagers. Cela apporte le problème à Robicheaux et il tourne pour administrer des somnifères à lord Bubba Rocque, un ami d'enfance.
