Plot Summary: After the death of her husband, Anna Owens moves from England to Siam with his son Louis to become a teacher for the children of the king of Siam. She notes that the Siamese customhouse completely distinguishes itself of English, which often brings him in conflict with the king. However, after some time they are by leaving much better.

Elle constate que la douane siamoise tout à fait se distingue des anglais, qui lui apporte souvent dans le conflit avec le roi.
